Bowie State University - Martin Luther King, Jr. Cente - Bowie, MD

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center at Bowie State University, designed by Perkins&Will, is a powerful new landmark on Maryland’s oldest HBCU campus. As a hub for arts and humanities, the building delivers 21st-century learning environments that champion student expression, creativity, and collaboration. ECO Cladding provided the engineered subframing system to support the project’s terracotta façade, helping to accommodate the increased weight of the material while ensuring long-term performance. Drawing inspiration from Dr. King’s Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, the façade becomes a visual expression of voice and purpose—an architectural embodiment of identity, justice, and the courage to shape the future.
