East Otay Fire State ECO Cladding Subframing System with Fundermax HPL Panels

East Otay Mesa Fire Station 38 - Sand Diego, CA

This new San Diego County Fire Station represents the first in a series of sustainable public safety buildings, combining new construction and renovations, all targeting net zero emissions and embodied carbon reduction.

The architect and county selected Fundermax Max Compact Exterior Panels with ECO Cladding’s engineered attachment system to achieve both high-performance durability and aesthetic appeal. The panels’ strong environmental profile played a key role in helping the project achieve LEED Gold Certification and a 30% reduction in embodied carbon. In addition to the rainscreen façade and soffits, Fundermax provided custom digital printing services to create a striking fire station logo and a mural celebrating the region’s unique climate and landscape.
